SUMMARY OF THE BOOK: This edited volume brings together key articles and documents about the unique role Albanians played in saving 100% of Jews who lived in Albania or who came there to seek refuge during the Holocaust. The book also brings to light the important role ethnic Albanians outside of the Albanian State borders played in facilitating the rescue efforts. It is the Albanian code of honor "besa" which explains why the Albanians would risk their own lives to save those of their guests, i.e. Jews they were sheltering.
